A few weeks ago FFWD Weekly dedicated a big chunk of their issue (August 9, 2012) to the local comedy scene here in Calgary. In addition to a large profile on the upcoming YYComedy Festival, an article called “Coming up in the clubs” featured some of the highlights of the upcoming calendars from the three full-time stand-up venues in Calgary and I was quite flattered to be one of those highlights!
I’ll be headlining at Yuk Yuk’s Calgary on August 31 and September 1 (8:00PM nightly) along with a couple of other very funny folks including my good friend, Ian Wallace. This is a first for me within Yuk Yuk’s and I’m excited for the opportunity; hopefully you can join us all for a very funny long weekend.
Additionally, the article gave 260 Minutes a great preview, calling it “a wonderfully reckless experiment.” It’s a quote I quite like. As of Saturday night I have completed 25% of the project (with set #13 online now).
I should also mention that this coming Saturday night (August 25) I’ll be performing on a fund raiser show to benefit HOPE, a Calgary Urban Projects Society program. For this show I’ll be acting as MC with Nigel Lawrence headlining and Doug Mutai also featured. Tickets are $15 in advance (available online) or $20 at the door with all proceeds going to benefit the charity. It’s a worthy cause and a night of hilarity – join us!
